Magnetic separation is realized by taking advantage of magnetic properties differences between materials. The magnetic separator is generally composed of a large rotating drum that creates a magnetic field. Materials enter the separator and fall out through mesh at the base if they are not magnetic.
Magnetic separators can be classified into low and high-intensity separator as well as dry-feed and wet-feed ones. The dry low-intensity magnetic separator is mainly used to deal coarse sands with strong magnetic property, while low density wet separator applied to purify magnetic medium.
Dry high-intensity magnetic separators handles particles finer than 75μm. Wet high-intensity magnetic separation is ideal to treat the concentration of low grade iron ores containing hematite.
